SGS CDMO is a UK-based Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation (CDMO) specialising in pharmaceutical formulation, GMP manufacturing, and clinical packaging and supply. Operating from MHRA and FDA-inspected facilities, SGS supports global clients through Phase I–III clinical development through to niche-scale commercial manufacturing.

Established in 2002, our site provides formulation and manufacturing solutions for small molecules, live biotherapeutics (BSL I & II), proteins, peptides, unlicensed medicines, and controlled drugs. We have delivered over 300 projects for more than 150 clients worldwide. SGS offers pre-clinical formulation screening for poorly soluble or low-bioavailability APIs, with capabilities including solid-state characterisation, nano-milling, solubility screening, and particle analysis. Our formulation development spans a wide range of dosage forms including immediate and modified-release tablets, capsules, oral liquids, suspensions, and topical products.

Analytical services support drug development from early characterisation through to validated methods and stability studies (ICH). We also provide full analytical support for both small molecule and microbiome-based products.

Our GMP manufacturing facility supports clinical and commercial supply. Capabilities include direct compression, wet and dry granulation, encapsulation, coating, and blending. SGS also specialises in oral liquids and suspensions, extrusion/spheronisation, and lyophilisation, providing flexible solutions for complex dosage forms.

Clinical trial services include primary and secondary packaging, kit design, label printing, cold chain solutions, and QP release. SGS also offers integrated regulatory services, comparator sourcing, and CRO support—streamlining the path from formulation to first-in- human trials and beyond. SGS CDMO combines scientific expertise, regulatory compliance, and global reach to deliver reliable, end-to-end development and supply solutions for complex pharmaceutical programs.
